The simplest reason to do this is to disconnect from our hectic lives for some time for yourself. Your body and mind need rest and relaxation to flourish. The only way you're going to fill the cups of others is make sure yours is full first.
If you're on a self discovery journey this is something I highly recommend. By allowing your nervous system to relax you can enter a theta brain state which allows you to access brain visualisations in a trance of dreaming while still awake.
This method can release, restore and transcend you into deep sleep so that you can get back to feeling like you again. Sometimes we need to power down fully and restart so that we can re-frame life with a fresh mind.
